Chord Finder

Chord finder allows you to point and click notes on the keyboard to make your own chords. GuitarPower then uses its extensive knowledge base to suggest a name for that chord.

To place a chord note. Point at the string at the required fret and click the left mouse button.

To move a note. Point at the new required fret.

To remove a note. Click on the note or right click while pointing at the string.

To place a open string. Left-handed display - click to the left of the nut. Right-handed display - click to the right of the nut.

When sufficient notes are placed GuitarPower will suggest a number of suitable chord names, starting with an assumed root on the lowest string moving through each string in turn. In the majority of cases either:

will be the best chord description. To give extra help GuitarPower colour codes it's suggestions in various shades of blue - the darkest colour suggestion is often the best.

Play

Clicking the 'play' button causes the current chord voicing to be played. Guitar Power can output to your computer's sound card or to a MIDI instrument. For information concerning MIDI setup, click here.
