Playback

Playback options allow you to control:

Tempo

Chords, Scales and Arpeggios each have their own tempo setting. To change a tempo setting, click on the appropriate tempo slider and drag the indicator to the required setting. Alternatively select the tempo slider by clicking on it or pressing the Tab key until it is highlighted (a dotted rectangle is drawn around the slider). The following keys can then be used:

MIDI Output Device

This setting allows you to specify whether Guitar Power's output is routed to the internal soundcard or an external MIDI synth or sound module. If no sound is heard when you click the Play button then this setting is most likely incorrect. The options that are available to you vary depending on the type of soundcard that your computer has installed. Here are the settings that are available for a computer fitted with a Creative Labs Soundblaster AudioPCI 64V soundcard.

MIDI Mapper - selects the output device specified by the current Windows multimedia (MIDI) setting.

SB AudioPCI 64V MIDI Synth - selects the soundcard as the sound source.

SB AudioPCI 64V MIDI Out - selects an outboard MIDI synth or sound module as the sound source.

Channel

Selects which MIDI channel (1 - 16) is used for output. In most cases this setting is irrelevant to Guitar Power.

Instrument

Selects which instrument (or patch) is used for output. All of the General MIDI standard instrument set are present.

Volume

Specifies output velocity. Please note that with some instrument sounds different this setting may affect the timbre as well as the volume.

Please note that there is no need to save these settings, they are automatically saved when you quit Guitar Power.
