Triad Type Selector
Use this to select the type and inversion of triad. Each of the four triad types have three possible inversions
To view the inversions available within a triad group, click on the + sign next to it. The group will then expand. To collapse a group, hiding the chords, click on the - sign.
To select a triad and inversion, click on the inversion. This will cause the triad information, and the fretboard display to change.
Triad Information
Displays detailed information about the currently selected triad.
Triad: The root note, triad name and inversion
Triad Notes (in red): The notes contained within the triad, lowest to highest. This changes to reflect the current root note.
Formula: A method of calculating the notes in a musical structure regardless of key. To convert a formula into a set of triad notes, compare each formula element to a major scale that starts on the same root note.
Example: A minor, root position triad has a formula of: 1, b3, 5. To work out the notes in a C minor root position triad:-
C major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B
Selecting the 1st and 5th gives C and G. The 3rd is E which when flattened gives Eb.
C minor root position = C, Eb, G
String Group Selector
Determines which group of three adjacent string the triad is displayed on.
Play

Clicking the 'play' button causes the current triad to be played. Guitar Power can output to your computer's sound card or to a MIDI instrument. For information concerning MIDI setup, click here.
Info

Clicking the 'info' button opens a window containing further information about the current triad type. This includes some practise chord progressions and play-along backing tracks. For more information click here.
