B. Troubleshooting
- I cannot
get any sound out of PET when pressing the ’new’ button. Refer
to the sections headed Information for Soundcard Users and Information
For MIDI Keyboard Users in Chapter 4 Tutorial – Using PET for the
First Time
- PET says
"MMSYSTEMxxx. The specified device is already in use." etc. You
are trying to open two programs that use the same MIDI devices, the other
program may be another music program or PET already running. Close the other
program and restart PET.
- PET says
"I cannot find the file…" etc. Your PET installation has
become corrupted. Use the Unistall option to uninstall PET and then reinstall
it.
- PET has played
the same interval/chord/scale etc. a number of times in succession. See
the section headed A Word About Randomness in Chapter 5 Tutorial –
Using the Intervals Option
- Sometimes
notes keep ringing on. Use the ‘All Notes Off (Panic Button)’
icon on the toolbar
- My aural
abilities are just not good enough! Keep practising!
