Personal Ear Trainer (PET)

Introduction

Welcome to the PET user guide. PET is an advanced computer program that allows musicians to practice ear-training without the aid of a teacher or another musician.

Irrespective of the type of music you play or your current standard, PET can help you achieve your aim of becoming a better musician. The surefire way to improve any musical skill is practise - PET helps you to improve your listening skills, one of the fundamental skills required by all musicians.

PET can be used by individual musicians to help develop their own skills or it can be used by teachers as part of their overall delivery of the subject.

PET’s developer is a practising college lecturer and musician who has developed this software in response to the needs of his own students and teaching programs. This program has been designed from the standpoint of being educationally effectual and has been thoroughly tested in a ‘real world’ situation with changes being made as a result of feedback from end users.

PET is an extensive program which will take some time to learn to use it to its fullest potential, so please read this manual carefully and take time to experiment with all the program’s features.
